El piloto finlandés marcó el mejor registro clasificatorio en el 70º aniversario de la Fórmula 1 y largará desde la posición de privilegio. Hamilton y Hülkenberg lo escoltaron.
Valtteri Bottas se quedó con la clasificación en el circuito de Silverstone, por la quinta fecha del Mundial de Fórmula 1, y se anotó su 13° pole position.
El de Mercedes registró un tiempo 1m25s154 en la vuelta veloz, con neumáticos medios, y superó a Lewis Hamilton por 0.071/1000.
Por suparte, fue tercero Nico Hulkenberg con el Racing Point quedando a 0.092/1000. Cerraron el top five de la clasificación Verstappen y Ricciardo.
Más atrás se ubicaron Lance Stroll (Racing Point), Pierre Gasly (AlphaTauri), Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), Alexander Albon (Red Bull) y Lando Norris (McLaren).
La carrera final el domingo será a partir de las 10.00.
